Ooni Koda Outdoor Pizza Oven Review

The Ooni Koda has been designed for those that want a pure gas powered pizza oven. The instant flame from the gas means that you will be up and running within about fifteen minutes with this bit of kit. Everything can be controlled by the small dial on the back of this Ooni.

The brilliant thing is that you don't really need to be lugging a massive gas canister around. These can work with something a little bit larger than your average camping gas cylinder. This makes the Ooni Koda surprisingly portable. Who doesn't want to have a whole oven on the beach, for instance?

There is enough space inside the Ooni Koda to hold a 13" pizza. However, you can pretty much heat up anything you want inside of it. If it fits, it cooks. This bit of kit retains heat incredibly well. This helps to ensure even, quick-cooking. This is why we stuck it at the number one position in our Ooni pizza oven review.

The only major downside to the Ooni Koda Outdoor Pizza Oven is the fact that it doesn't actually have a door. This does create an interesting aesthetic when you are cooking a brilliant-looking pizza. However, we can't help but feel that this may be a bit inefficient when it comes to fuel. That being said, gas canisters do seem to last a surprising amount of time regardless of this. We suppose that it doesn't really need a door if the rest of the pizza oven is able to retain heat well, right?

PROS AND CONS

  • Gas powered
  • Heats up quickly
  • Very portable
  • Can hold a 13" pizza
  • Only works with gas
  • No door

Ooni Koda Outdoor Pizza Oven Review Verdict:

For those looking for a high quality portable pizza oven, look no further than the Ooni Koda. Despite having a couple of downsides, this is the perfect pizza oven to cook smaller meals no matter where you are. The price isn't exactly going to be breaking the bank either.

Ooni Pro Review

The Ooni Pro is one of the more versatile outdoor pizza ovens on this page. Out of the box, the Ooni Pro is going to work
with both charcoal and wood. This enables you to have wood fired pizza that everybody loves. However, you can purchase adapters that will allow you to heat it up with either pellets or gas. Sure, it will add a little bit more to the cost of the Ooni Pro, but it will be worth it if you want your choice of fuels.

The Ooni Pro is a little bit larger than the Ooni Koda. It is able to hold pizzas up to 16" in size. Of course, this does mean that it is going to be a little less portable. In fact, the rather large chimney that sits on top of the Ooni Pro makes it a lot less portable too. Granted, that little chimney is useful for helping to take the smoke out of the oven, but still.

With the right fuel, the Ooni Pro is able to cook a pizza in just 60-seconds. This makes it one of the fastest pizza ovens on the market. This is because it is able to heat up to a whopping 500-degrees-Celsius. You will have full control of the temperature using the nifty little dial on the oven. This makes it great for cooking a multitude of different meals.

PROS AND CONS

  • Enables you to make wood fired pizza
  • Can be used with different fuel types
  • Can hold up to 16" pizzas
  • Looks beautiful
  • Not all that portable
  • Need to buy additional accessories to make it more versatile

Ooni Pro Review Verdict:

While you may need to spend a little bit extra for the accessories, the Ooni Pro is perfect for those that want a larger, more versatile pizza oven.

Ooni Karu Review

Last, but certainly not least, is the Ooni Karu. This is another versatile outdoor oven. Once again, out of the box, it is going to work with either wood or charcoal. However, you can also convert it to accept gas if you wish. There does not seem to be an option that will allow you to use pellets with it.

The Ooni Karu is a little bit more portable than the Ooni Pro. In fact, it weighs a little over half of the weight of the far larger pro. Although, do bear in mind that the inside will be a bit smaller.

This one can handle up to 12-inch pizzas.  It heats up to a maximum of 500-degrees-Celsius in just under 15-minutes. This means that it is going to be five-minutes faster than the Ooni Pro. Honestly, this would have probably taken second place if it had been slightly larger. Alas, that would have meant it wouldn't have been all that portable.

The only major downside is that this does burn through wood incredibly quickly. Most people recommend that you have your pizzas prepared beforehand. You can then heat up the oven. It cooks pizzas in around 60-seconds, so you should be able to get through a few pizzas without having to refill the wood if you plan your time properly.

PROS AND CONS

  • Enables you to make wood fired pizza
  • Heats up very quickly. Just 15-minutes.
  • Portable pizza oven
  • Can hold pizzas up to 12"
  • Can't be converted to use pellets
  • Burns wood incredibly quickly

Ooni Karu Review Verdict:

For those that want a portable outdoor pizza oven that can burn wood, then the Ooni Karu may be just the ticket.
